About the Department
The Department of Zoology was established in 1984. The department runs the Programme in Zoology at undergraduate level. Apart from the academics, the faculty from the department constantly keeps motivating students for co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. The teachers from the department are very keen on developing the overall personality of the students and therefore keep them engaged in various activities run by the department. Remedial teaching classes are conducted for the weaker students to make the class homogeneous.
The department is enriched with rare collection of specimens in the museums, well equipped labs and library. The department has qualified, experienced and highly motivated teachers involving themselves in teaching and extension activities. The department strives to promote overall development of students by inculcating a spirit of inquest, discipline and adventure through various academic and co-curricular activities. Department has Computer Networking and Internet facility. Our pedagogy focuses on basic and applied fields of Zoology assisted with demos, models, videos, etc. The departmental laboratories include equipment’s such as Digital Weighing Balance, pH Meter, Compound Microscopes, Dissection Microscopes, Water Bath, Electrophoresis Units, Power Pack, Microtome, Centrifuge, and Incubator
Dr Sopan L. Erande( Head and Associate professor) has 33 year teaching experience and published seven research paper in leading National and international Journals. He also presented and participated in National and International conferences, symposia and workshops in India and abroad. He is research guide of SPPU, Pune.
Dr.Sangita A.Bhamare (Assistant Professor) has 16 years best teaching experience, published 4 research papers ,participated in National and International conferences ,seminars, workshops. In the lockdown period she has completed 4 FDPS and 1 Online Orientation course on MOOCS from Ramanujan College New Delhi. She is always ready in the active involvement of e-content development.

Goals
- Conducting educational tour to the various places to gain the knowledge of habit and habitat of the wild life.
- Giving exposure to the students by visiting Indian institute of science, fisheries, sericulture, apiculture, poultry farms, Zoo, Research etc. from the related branches of knowledge.
- To create awareness of INSITU conservation of wild life.
- The dept. has five big windows & has a good ventilation.
- The attainder of the dept. maintain very good hygienic environment & also in lab by cleaning and washing the floor every week.
- The dept. has its own library with more than 175 books and 48 e-books pertaining to zoology
